Menu Design

During this project, we were
tasked with creating a menu for
a restaurant. As an added wrinkle, we were also given a combination of two different demographics to design the restaurant for. I was given the demographics "adults" and "fantasy fans", so I chose to design a bar and cafe with a games rental service.
To give my fictional restaurant
a cozy and welcoming quality, I took inspiration from classic tabletop RPG illustrations, sticking to one or two colors and using hatching to shade my drawings instead of cel-shading or soft blending. I also designed a mouse knight as a mascot for the cafe, inspired by the Redwall book series.

Finally, I added a subtle paper texture to the canvas to give the menu a more analog quality, as if it were hand-printed or illustrated. I'm quite happy with the final result, and am planning on creating more designs for the Hearth's Embrace, like a logo or website, to flesh it out as a more detailed brand.
